Top 5 Camping Destinations of 2021
Our favorite dispersed Camping and Overlanding locations around Las Vegas. These are all places we’ve traveled to during 2021!
Top 5 Destinations
Death Valley National Park
Drive Time: 2 Hours from Las Vegas
Best Time to go: October – May
Camp Locations (Check iOverlander – On the way to Inyo Mine and around Desert Campsite)
Points of Interest: Death Valley is FILLED with stuff to see but a few of our favorite places to go that are easily accessible:
- Zabriskie Point (Go at Sunset!)
- Badwater Basin
- Devil’s Gold Course
- Masaic Canyon (4 mile out and back hike with awesome views!)
- Titus Canyon Trail (Overlanding trail) – Easy/Medium trail with some steep ascends requiring good tires and possibly 4×4
Road Conditions: Easy throughout the park (mostly paved and well maintained dirt roads). You’ll find a wide range of trail difficulty depending on where you are camping within Death valley (ex. On the way to Inyo Mine there are a few rocks to go over that require some clearance as you go down the road but there are easy access camping spots for Vans/RVs at the beginning of the road).
Entry Fees: $30 to enter the park but FREE if you have the America the Beautiful

Gold Butte National Monument
Drive Time: 2.5 hours from Las Vegas
Camp Locations – Lots of areas to camp (check iOverlander)
Points of Interest
- Little Finland
- Seven Keyholes Slot Canyon
Road Conditions: Mostly dirt roads with some soft sand.
Notes: Make sure to download your maps ahead of time because there is ZERO signal here and no facilities (Bathrooms, Trash cans, etc so pack it in and pack it out!)
Entry fee: FREE
Exploring Gold Butte Video
Cedar Breaks National Monument
Drive Time: 3 Hours from Las Vegas
Camp Locations: There are a lot of options out there so check out iOverlander. We ended up camping on BLM off Sage Valley Snowmobile Trail
Points of Interest: – Cedar Breaks National Monument Natural Amphitheater – Navajo Lake

Road Conditions – Easy paved road throughout the monument.
Camping is outside of the monument with lots of BLM land available.
Entry Fee: $7 per adult (pass is good for 7 days)
Grand Canyon South Rim
Drive Time: 4 Hours from Las Vegas
Camp Locations – Coconino Rim Road into Kaibab National Forest. There are a lot of options in the area with multiple Forest Service roads around the park – check Campendium for more info! There is a lot of Campground camping within the park and reservations are available online.
Points of Interest: –
- Grand Canyon (Mather Point)
- Desert View Watchtower
Road Conditions: Easy paved roads throughout the park. Well maintained dirt roads when you get into Coconino Rim Road (larger RVs parked closer to the entrance)
Entry Fees: $30 to enter the park but FREE if you have the America the Beautiful Pass
Grand Staircase-Escalante
Drive Time: 5 hours from Las Vegas
Camp Locations: Lot of options in the area – BLM200 and check iOverlander for more options!
Points of Interest:
- Kiva Koffeehouse
- Escalante River Trailhead (The most amazing arches I’ve seen). Its about a 5 mile in and out hike, easy with little elevation gain but make sure to bring plenty of water if its hot out!
- Kodachrome Basin State Park (on the way to Escalante)
Road Conditions: Easy paved roads for most of it
