Nissan Frontier Go Fast Camper Install
Documenting the journey from Las Vegas to Montana to get the Go Fast Camper v2 (GFC) installed on my 2012 Nissan Frontier, the 4th Nissan Frontier Frontier that’s been installed with a GFC! My most anticipated upgrade on the truck to date!
Install Requirements
Prior to driving up to Montana, I had to remove a few things from the truck to prep.
- Remove the factory cross bars above the cab
- Fill the holes where the cross bars were drilled in (I used some screws and adhesive to waterproof the holes)
- Remove the factory installed utilitrac rails within the bed (the GFC is not able to bolt into these bed rails (the rails are larger than those used on a Tacoma) – this was unfortunate and i’m now trying to figure out a good way to add tie down points within the bed.
- Clean the truck bed, back windows and wipe everything down
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 – Drive 8 hours up to Pocatello Idaho – Stayed at an Airbnb Yurt ($80 for the night) which was Awesome 🙂
Day 2 – Drive 4 hours up to Bozeman Montana – Stayed at La Quinta ($120 for the night)
Day 3 – GFC installed was scheduled for 2pm, I came in early and luckily was able to get it installed within 30 minutes of arriving. Right after the install I booked it to Yellowstone, saw old Faithful and a few other stops within the park. Then made my way to camp for the night. Looking for BLM/Public camping in Wyoming was a bit tough, there was one road I had marked that I wasn’t able to find a spot so I ended up sleeping in a parking lot pull off by a creek which worked out pretty well. The weather got pretty cold that night which was great to test out the new camper!
Day 4 – Made my way to the Grand Tetons, made breakfast and continued my journey back home. That night I ended up driving past Salt Lake City and camped in BLM in Scipio Utah.
Day 5 – Drove 4 hours and finally made it back to Las Vegas
